19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his first championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent reactions on court had prompted commentators to question if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

He defended four initial chances in a close final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
