Large-scale Moscow's Assaults Cut Power Across Ukraine's Capital
Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.
Nine people were injured while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to drinking water, per reports from city officials.
At the same time, a minor was lost their life in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, as reported by local officials.
Moscow has intensified strikes on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.
"What's needed is not window dressing but firm measures - from the United States, Europe and the G7 - in supplying defensive weapons and implementing sanctions," was stated in a public message.
Authorities reported that 450 drones and over thirty projectiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.
The energy minister said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.
A barrage of missiles struck electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.
Several of the people hurt in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, according to municipal representatives.
Regional authorities said the metropolitan region endured heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A minor was killed and several individuals were wounded.
The assaults succeed periods of air raids in the territory, parts of which are occupied by Moscow's military.
The whole nation is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to detect.
Government officials told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already impacting energy systems.
Officials stated energy workers and government agencies were preparing for more assaults.
